Finding Hope After St. Louis Floods

September 16, 2022

Ronisha Johnson, a longtime resident of St. Louis, Missouri, said that when she saw flash floods overtake her community on July 26, “it was like something out of a movie; something nobody could even imagine going through.”

To help, Tzu Chi St. Louis volunteers hosted emergency financial aid distributions from August 27-28 for families who’d lost basically everything. When she received her cash card, in addition to a listening ear from Tzu Chi volunteers, another resident, Shelby McGoogan said, “it just made me feel like people who don’t even know me care, you know? And that’s just the best feeling in the world.”
