When a person loses their home, or most of it, to a fire or other disaster, insurance doesn’t always save the day. “A lot of the people had been dropped by the insurance companies before the fires hit, and they had no insurance, and they were left completely devastated,” said Joan Carter, a resident impacted by the Dixie Fire. That’s where Tzu Chi comes in.
Not only did Tzu Chi Northwest provide on-the-spot emergency financial aid after the fire, caring and compassionate #TzuChiVolunteers comforted survivors’ pains. As Joan says, “When you feel like people care, it’s so much easier to go through what you have to go through.”
