Giving Hope After Tropical Storm Ida

Sophy Liu, a Queens resident, vividly described the night Tropical Storm Ida flooded her home: “water started coming from the door. Once we tried to open the door, the door got stuck; I couldn’t open it. My upstairs landlord and my friends, they all tried to come – swimming over – to help me break the door [open].”
This week, she received emergency financial assistance from Tzu Chi NY. Despite losing everything, Sophy told us that the support she felt from #TzuChi “is giving people hope.”
