From April 29 and into the month of May, the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul endured heavy downpours that led to devastating floods. Yet, this heartache was not yet over. More than 500,000 people were left without electricity and clean water across the state, with many roads and bridges destroyed, and communication via internet and telephone services interrupted in over 85 municipalities. Joining hands with the community, Tzu Chi volunteers have traveled from far and wide to reach out and into the communities most urgently in need of support, and set their disaster relief into motion.
