Applied Buddhism & the Bodhisattva Path
Series: Tzu Chi Global Symposium for Common GoodnessOn May 7, 2026, scholars, practitioners, and volunteers gathered at Harvard University for “Applied Buddhism and the Contemporary Bodhisattva Path,” a symposium co-hosted by the Tzu Chi Charity Foundation and Harvard FAS CAMLab in celebration of Tzu Chi’s 60th anniversary.
Through discussions on humanitarian relief, healthcare, ethics, and compassion in everyday life, speakers explored how Buddhist wisdom can move beyond theory into meaningful action. As Tzu Chi Foundation Deputy CEO Rey-Sheng Her shared, the goal is to bring “wisdom and compassion… to the whole society, to the whole world.”
The symposium reflected Tzu Chi’s vision of Humanistic Buddhism, transforming compassion into action through service, kindness, and care for all beings.
