Spiritual Healing at HDS
On March 28 and 29, we attended the “Colloquium on Intercultural Spiritual Care for Culturally Chinese Populations” in Boston, MA, at Harvard Divinity School in partnership with the HDS Buddhist Ministry Initiative. Ray-Sheng Her, Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi Charity Foundation, says spiritual care is “about how to return to the inner peace and the outer balance as well because everything is interconnected.”
Focused on compassion, altruism, and spiritual healing, the colloquium allowed participants to engage in fruitful discussions on the applications of spiritual care in diverse circumstances. Stephanie Sears, a lecturer on spiritual care at the Harvard Divinity School, stated, “Spiritual care encompasses a discipline of embodied practice: intentional presence, collaborative meaning-making, and engaged attunement.”
