Vision Mobile Clinic with Brigada de Esperanza

On April 27, 2025, Tzu Chi New York  and Brigada de Esperanza partnered to hold a vision mobile clinic in Queens, NY. With care recipients predominantly from the Latino community, they were empowered through the vision services of free eye exams and prescription glasses. They found that not only were the services free, they were also very quick, which opened up a world of clear sight and possibilities for them.

The outreach was a continuation of a Tzu Chi’s long standing coalition with Brigada de Esperanza and their CEO, NY Supreme Court Justice Carmen Velasquez, since the pandemic. Heralding the impact that can be had by such expediency in vision solutions, Judge Velasquez shared: “Today, these individuals have the opportunity to have the examination and the glasses on the same day. It’s amazing.”

Through the important and valuable free vision services, people of all ages were allowed a renewed chance at achieving proper sight to make life easier for them daily.
