“Many times people don’t see a doctor because they think, ‘How much will it cost?’” says Elena Velázquez, a Xochimilco resident. When visiting a doctor is seen as a luxury or a far-off dream for low-income residents like those in Xochimilco, Mexico, many are forced to endure their health issues and live in constant pain. TIMA’s volunteer doctors did everything they could to help make a difference.
