When it feels like the world is all but caving in on itself, one quiet practice seeks to bring peace.
During CSW68, Tzu Chi USA and AHAM Education co-hosted an NGO-CSW side event at the Tzu Chi Center in New York City focused on mindfulness and well-being.
For AHAM Education CEO and Founder Knellee Bisram, it’s about “creating conscious experiences. What we’re not going to do is think too much.” How does this help professionals, global thinkers, and changemakers in the social impact space?
Knellee believes that “what emerges is an understanding that the act of taking care of myself is not separate from the act of taking care of the Earth,” and that this connectedness supports decision-making that is more aligned with our personal values.
Event attendee Susan Prescott, MD, PhD, of the NOVA Institute says that it’s a more holistic way of tackling the planet’s biggest problems: “At the moment we’re facing so many challenges, but ultimately we need this spiritual revolution. It’s about changing the mindsets that have created these problems in the first place.”
