The Resilience in Action Summit: Supporting Community Mental Health

| 2:02m

On June 10, 2023, Tzu Chi USA hosted the first-ever Resilience in Action Summit. Its goal was to offer panels and workshops that addressed specific topics in mental health, as well as solutions, for Asian Americans.

US Congresswoman Judy Chu explained that, when it comes to mental and emotional well-being, “many people in the Chinese immigrant community don’t like to talk about their feelings—so they keep it in.”

With sessions specifically tailored then for Chinese speakers (including bilingual English-Chinese translation support), it was an important milestone made possible by Take Action LA and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. “What we’d like to see hopefully is folks kind of exploring… and realizing different ways that they can become more resilient in their own lives, and the lives of their loved ones, and their friends,” said Dr. Michelle Majors, Chief for Service Area 3 at the LA County Department of Mental Health.
