While Melva was ill for a year, she felt alone without any family or friends nearby to console her. But on the day of her surgery, Tzu Chi USA volunteers went from being strangers to feeling like Melva’s family as they gifted her a bouquet of flowers. Touched by the volunteers’ generosity, Melva admires the spiritual and emotional support she receives as part of Tzu Chi USA medical outreach efforts.
