Episode 8: Planting Dreams

Series: Stung by Climate
| 7:47m

Haiti’s economy is ailing, and the best proof is the lack of trees in this impoverished island nation. A century ago, 60% of the country was forested: Today, it’s less than 1% as people continue to chop down what’s left to produce coal for sale to support their families. Beekeepers here believe honey production could turn the economy around, but they face many obstacles beyond deforestation. Can they be overcome?
