Their parents bought the beekeeping business in 1968: But for the Hiatt brothers who now manage 17,000 beehives in California, Washington, and North Dakota, things are not like before. People never even had to look at their hives decades ago. Today, you have to maintain bees all winter just to keep them alive. Something changed in the environment, and bees are dying prematurely.
