Plastics & Pollution in Kibera

| 4:14m

In Kenya, the use, manufacture, import and sale of plastic bags are officially banned in hopes of encouraging the population to be more environmentally conscious. However, in heavily populated urban slum Kibera, the ban on plastics is non-existent, and the hazards of pollution cannot be enforced or contained. Between the human waste that pollutes the river and the burning of trash being dispersed into the atmosphere, the United Nations Environment Assembly has been pushing for a greener economy that focuses on the reduction of trash to improve the planet’s overall health.
