How Changing Food Systems Can Change the World

Series: COP26
| 3:37m

At a recent press conference held at the UN’s COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, the message was loud and clear: we must change how we eat in order to combat climate change. This, speakers expressed, could be done at the governmental, industrial, and consumer level.

“Governments can create enabling environments for consumers. We need to get the price of meat, of dairy up, and we need to get the price of vegetables and plant-based products down. But we need the support of government with concrete policies that favor the plant-based sector and plant-rich diets in general.” – Raphael Podselver, ProVeg International

“We’ve set out to develop a technology platform that would outperform animals as a system for turning plants into meat and fish and dairy foods… Our intention is to scale that technology to effectively make animal agriculture obsolete by 2035.” Patrick O. Brown, Impossible Foods CEO

“We hope to promote deep down, individual behavioral transformation that we wish to see in everyone\’s daily action. We hope that everyone can actually implement the action that they advocate in your life.” – Ashley Yong, Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation SDG Action Team
