Camp Fire: Returning to Concow

Disaster Relief

After the Camp Fire, Concow residents Kristine and Mark Price returned to an open lot of ashes that was once their home. The experience unearthed more than just the vegetables that were growing in their garden. One of the family’s dogs survived the whole ordeal. “She’s been here the entire time. She never left,” remarked Kristine. As the Prices searched for things to salvage, Kristine ran across a few of her vegetables and plants and was astonished and deeply touched that they had survived. “When it bends like that and doesn’t break, that means it’s still alive.” This parallels her tenacity and willingness to rebuild in the wake of this tragedy. The Prices are one of many families whom Tzu Chi USA has distributed cash cards, supplies and support to. Kristine shares, “It’s just the nicest thing…I desperately needed the help, and sharing what these guys are doing is just above and beyond what normal people do.”  Tzu Chi takes going “above and beyond” very seriously when it concerns people in need. Please join our mission in continuing relief efforts.
