Tzu Chi volunteers from the Greater Washington DC area took to Asheville, North Carolina, in the wake of Hurricane Helene to search for a venue for forthcoming disaster relief distributions. The first stop was the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Distribution Site. Then came the Covenant Community Church, the Orange Peel Event Space, Harrah’s Cherokee Center, and Echo Mountain Recording Studio. At each stop, we spoke with the people there to hear more about what they’ve been doing to help. One of the things often emphasized was mental and spiritual health, both for survivors and aid workers. We all have to take care of ourselves while caring for one another, indeed. Discover the journey.
