Like in other beach towns, the residents of Cojimies are troubled by the lack of tourists right now. The tsunami after the earthquake in April left the streets here littered with debris and deep in sand, and that doesn’t create a good image for their town. Cleaning up main street was a priority, and with the support of the Cash For Relief program, the job was done in half a day, and participants even got a chance to clear the beach of debris.
