No one expected the series of wildfires that ignited in Northern California on October 8 to spread so quickly. As our disaster assessment began in the hardest hit areas in Santa Rosa, the smell of smoke still filled the air. People here were evacuated in the middle of the night, without any warning, as walls of flame closed in just a few feet away. Many are now coming to terms with the loss of absolutely everything they owned.
