The 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Mexico on September 19, 2017 – the anniversary of the catastrophic 1985 earthquake that killed over 5,000 people – rattled the nerves of the nation. Our disaster assessment began in Jojutla, a city near the epicenter. People here are devastated by the losses they have endured and the hardships that prevail, but Mexicans from other towns are coming to help.
