The closing ceremony in Pedernales revealed just how closely Tzu Chi volunteers and the residents of this town had bonded as one family: One man even handed the keys to his home to a volunteer for when he returns. “My heart has learned from yours: It’s now a heart with no doors or boundaries” was a sentiment shared by many, as they flocked to donate to the Bamboo Bank with a deep desire to pay the love forward and help others in their time of need.
