Unexpected Generosity
Series: Healing LA From The Wildfires“We’ve seen generosity like… I never would have expected,” said Lisa Maier, one of the many care recipients on February 2 when we held disaster relief distributions in West LA and El Monte to help families affected by the LA Wildfires.
In the face of adversity, residents found strength in togetherness, each with their own story of how the fires impacted their lives but united by the kindness and generosity shared at the event. They received food, supplies, and financial assistance, alongside compassion. “I’m beyond grateful to have resources to help us to rebuild,” expressed Carlene McGrue with gratitude after losing her childhood home.
In troubling times, it is essential to remain a unified community and remember that “Money runs out quickly, but love stays forever,” as Tzu Chi Global Volunteers Executive Director Stephen Huang shared, drawing from Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s wisdom.
