Uplifting Spirits After the Eaton Fire
Series: Healing LA From The Wildfires“We’re renters, and we have a business out of our home. So, our house was our livelihood,” shared Larry Demula, a Tzu Chi care recipient at our January 22 relief distribution for Eaton fire survivors. “I’ve seen aerial pictures of the house. Every house on our block and the blocks around it… just leveled to the ground. Nothing, nothing left, no trees, no… nothing.”
The day’s disaster relief event aimed to serve 165 families, providing not only financial help, but hope for the future. “We lost everything, but it feels so important to stay focused on, okay, there’s still stuff that we can be grateful for. Like this organization. Like the connection of… of people,” expressed John and Colette Lichtdwardt. This resilience was shared by many at the event, like Felisa Wright, who will use the funds to help restore her home daycare business.
It’s hard to imagine losing everything in the blink of an eye. Yet, having those at your side who truly care can make all the difference.
