The Clayton Fire swept into town from every direction, the voracious flames consuming roughly 200 homes. For the residents of Lower Lake, California, escaping alive was the only concern at that moment, “There was no time, no time to get anything. Time to go. Get in your car and go.” When they returned to the charred remains of their homes, the past lost forever, Tzu Chi’s love in the present made such a difference.
